The $1400 price tag might be difficult to swallow, however, it is usually available to make it more affordable. The unit is beautiful, and the base station occupies just a small space in a corner of an area.
The design of this robot is able to address some of the issues we have encountered with other robotic vacuum and mop units, such as the brushes becoming entangled in hair, and the vacuum brush not being able to reach bare floors underneath furniture. The sweeping performance is also impressive on carpets and flooring. The vacuum and mop have an excellent level of debris collection and the mop can quickly soak up flooring.
The mops use a smart system that cleans the edges of walls and around furniture. The robot is able to avoid the bulkier obstacles like food bowls, toys shoes, and backpacks without any problem. It can get tangled or get stuck with smaller, less hefty objects like shoelaces, USB cables and pen.
This robot was used to vacuum and mop hardwood floors, FLOR carpet tiles and pile rugs in a huge open-plan house. With FREO Mind enabled, it cleaned and mopped the 90m2 area in just 170 minutes, which is close to the average for Gen 4.

Miele Scout RX3
Miele has a track record of quality and innovation in the field of robot vacuuming. This new model aims to take it to the next level with smart features and top-notch cleaning performance.
The RX3 features a dual suction system and intelligent navigation that includes 3D mapping, and a camera that sends live images to your smartphone for simple control. The RX3's four-stage system offers excellent dust collection on carpets and hard floors. Side brushes that can be swung out with dual suction channels, and easy-to-use controls keep corners clean. Its 8.5 cm height lets it get under low furniture. Front cameras and infrared sensor help it navigate barriers, thresholds and obstructions with ease.
In our test of how well it cleaned baking soda close to corners and on baseboards the Scout RX3 was impressive. Its suction of 2,500Pa was weaker than other robots, but it was still quiet and moved quickly. It didn't mop and its removable cleaning pad was a challenge to attach. It also wasn't able to handle dirt that was dried on.
The app doesn't have advanced features, such as multiple cleaning modes or automated scheduling. It does support Alexa however its voice controls aren't particularly clear or responsive. It's also a bit sporadic when it comes back to the charging station after the course. Other robots can follow the wall or trace an earlier route however the RX3 stumbles around until it gives up.

Another issue we faced was with its smart features, particularly the mapping function and the digital keep-out zones. It was effective in keeping our shoes and furniture legs away but it was easily hanging up on cables, socks, and carpets. We didn't include the Scout RX3 on our Best Buy list. The Scout RX3 offers a good price and a dazzling performance. It's worth a look as an alternative to uprights that are traditionally used.
